Lightfield technology is so damn cool, and this is the kind of silly business it gets used for.

    Guys: screen. Holographic screen.

Zeiss is bringing its remarkable Holocam technology to CES 2024, which can turn any glass screen into a camera. This means that everything from the window in your car to the screen on your laptop to the glass on your front door can now possess an invisible image sensor.

Incredible and disturbing. Yes, all our phones will no longer have notches. But my god, the surveillance state when every window can be a camera… I’m a cynic by nature and a dystopian sci-fi fan, but this is dark even for that.

Exactly my only and all consuming thought. I hide my face almost everywhere I go now because of the fuckers like Ty company that’s scraping every available photo to create the facial recognition database. I live in a highly photographed city and I managed to stay off of all social media, even though I was the perfect age for every single iteration of it. I’m not gonna let some asshole tourist give my face to this company to sell.
