Sorry but this is nonsense. Just like those gimmicky LED lights with weights for Africa or what not. An actual Powerbank with a little solar panel makes more sense and will last year’s without any effort at any remote location.

Even if they generate 100 watt (which this thing will not), it would still take an hour to charge a Powerbank. Phones are limited by what the battery can take, so even if it can provide more power, the phone will be capped -> 0.5 hour for ~50%.

It is simply not practical, cost money for supper specialized thing they need to carry around. You don’t see them carry around a shake-to-charge-torch for the same reason. It is just a gimmick.

They actually name the time it takes: 25 min to charge the internal battery up the amount of one phone battery. They are around 10 Wh, so 24 Watt. I had a look, for 35 € you get a “BRENCIL Power Bank: 27000mAh Solar Powerbank” that has a 22 watt solar panel.

But this is based in London, where solar power isn’t going to be reliable. However, these bikes are everywhere.

The named Powerbank will last days with zero light. A few watt out of solar panel (like 10%, 2 Watt to keep the phone running) would be no problem even at a rainy day!
