One subreddit did this IIRC
One subreddit did this IIRC
Its difficult personally to believe its a myth due to my memory of the Twitter buyout where I recall the main struggle being that the CEOs of Twitter couldn’t deny Elon purchasing Twitter due to the threat of lawsuit from their shareholders, and after announcing his plans to purchase Twitter for the inflated price Elon couldn’t back out due to the same threat however I am open to the idea that I could of been misled on that situation.
As for the why of a myth like that circulating I doubt its due to malice and more due to misunderstanding as Ive always understood that any wording made on a legal case could be used as precedent. It could also fit well with people rationalizing why companies seek record profits while underpaying workers for their labor.
If anyone could clarify the Twitter situation without sucking off elon it would be appreciated
I swear Reddit is not only not learning from history but purposely trying to repeat it again thinking oh the previous guys were just too weak…
I mean I use Firefox, but why is it a better alternative? (I think I started using it cause it doesn’t stop screen sharing on discord)
There is a mention of the tracker though and the tracker has a link to lemmy :D it’ll get anyone who’s interested in how many sites are down (its not perfect but its something)
I think they’re seriously underestimating the work mods did in the bigger subs
Oh my, I expected a few thousand to go up after an hour or two but a few big ones are even still down this is great :D
This is cause people blocked him isnt it or was it simply Biden got more attention then the poor musky boi
oof rip i didn’t realize that although its still a dumb thing to do on reddits part ngl
so in response to subreddits doing a blackout reddit decided to do its own blackout that will effect those who aren’t participating in the blackout. Genius 5d chess right here people, some might even call it a sepuku.
Ad block is too vital sadly and having an ad blocker now is tricky
Youtube has pissed off their users something fierce for the last 5+ years (particularly smaller channels) and im honestly waiting for youtube to do something stupid next that rips apart their company like reddit and Twitter.
Oh definitely, just need a site that collects different video communities from the fediverse and throws them infront of an audience, if there was a special site that helped creators get set up it would go faster too
Oh thats clever
Wth no wonder he stayed off the site I think half of Reddit would drop kick him for being in a thread
Its only the first major wave of people, the Reddit blackout should cause more people to head over here and we have an active group creating content for the next few days hopefully. Reddit has another major wave when Apollo and RIF shut down, but we only benefit from that if the site is alive for the next 2 weeks after the blackout but that last wave should be the largest due to a lot of people really not wanting to use the official app. There’s a chance this kills reddit and spez did not do his AMA well at all
Tbh
HOW THE FUCK DID I OVERESTIMATE SPEZ
The fucking bar was on the ground and he didn’t pass it what the hell
I understand that although im really excited about lemmy :D I think the new users far exceeded the critical mass expectations of what the lemmy staff were ready for at least
That is a truly frightening idea for Reddit
Heck yeah! Fuck Transphobia!
