I have one of these at work. It throws a fit roughly 5 times a day.
One occasional issue is that it claims it has a blockage, it doesn’t, it wants you to open and close one of the doors.
I’m confused by the picture being a lionfish rather than a firefish.
It’s a different situation but I don’t think ‘not as bad’ really works here. The average house during the 30’s was only twice the average wage, you could absolutely support a family on a single income. Other things were bad, like the unemployment rate, but it was temporary.
The issue in this post is that what we’re dealing with is ‘life’ being unattainable for the majority of people. For people in their 20’s now it’s always been that way. They can’t move out, they can’t get an education, they can’t get a career going, it’s grim.
As someone that’s been around for some of history it’s bad now. Just the cost of living stuff is dark. Grown adults are sharing bedrooms because they can’t afford to rent a room by themselves on a full time wage. People have raised entire families on a single factory workers wage for hundreds of years before now, now two people with decent jobs can’t afford one kid. It’s dark.
And of course, we learned during covid that the general public are just great at looking after their personal health by picking good sources for their health information.
We all thought AI was going to turn on us and murder us, but no, it will be its incompetence which does us in.
As Jarfil said, it’s not automatically doing anything. The police can get a court order to get footage. It’s only given in very limited circumstances, like if the owner goes missing, or the camera might have spotted a significant crime, and it’s not just ring but basically anything. If you are suspected of a serious crime police can get your internet browsing history, they can bug your house, they can dig through your bins, and yes, can request the clips taken by your ring camera.
It’s happened 11 times this year. That shows how rarely courts give these orders.
The idea that Ring is some evil thing that’s doing anything different is just scaremongering.
Ring doesn’t ‘automatically send footage to police’.
I’ve checked facebook, instagram and tiktok, they’re all fine.
That actually happened a while back - https://www.otago.ac.nz/news/news/otago717609.html
I mean… I asked for examples and you gave ‘there are examples but I don’t know any’, which is not really supporting the point here.
Which ones? I use it quite a lot and never found a site that has blocked me.
I understand the concern here, but this isn’t his space, and I feel that how it works, he can’t take it.
