This is the kind of post that scares me away from trying Linux.

I’m sorry to say, we’ve moved on from self-destructive memes. OVER THE TOP ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT IS ALL THE RAGE NOW, YOU GOT THIS!
I have heard so much about Ayn Rand that I decided to see what all the buzz was about and listened to Atlas Shrugged during my commute. That shit was the most insufferable, unrealistic, out-of-touch BS I’ve ever “read.” She really thought a lot of herself. It was a horrible exercise in self-flagellation.
Some of us are doing ok and just trying to keep our heads down and not get caught in the crossfire. Good luck you guys. I wish you better fortune in the future.
Sounds like a very, very fast way to disincentivize anyone working any harder, smarter, or taking any more risks than anyone else.
I get there are HUGE problems with unregulated capitalism, but what you describe (equalizing everyone’s outcomes) also comes with catastrophic consequences.
There’s just not a good clean answer – it’s a fuckin rats nest and difficult to untangle. But we certainly shouldn’t stop trying. Some things have got to change.
Yep, and a person born with a sense of ineptitude or laziness will need more given to them than someone who has more drive and aptitude.
From each, according to his ability, to each according to his need…
I’ve used my floppy in a few swap spaces myself if ya know what I mean…
You’re right, this wouldn’t really work, but it’s still a funny idea.
After having multiple conversations with parents about their non-binary children, I have to admit that constantly using they/them gets confusing as hell. This parent has multiple children and I frequently couldn’t tell if they were referring to their children collectively, or to the non-binary child individually.
Linux users on Lemmy: People who don’t run Linux are just bad with computers and shouldn’t be using a computer at all!
I remember being part of these exact same conversations on other message boards at least 15 years ago.
We’re all going around in circles here as history repeats itself.
Never buy a cyberpower FYI. They’re junk.
After having two cyberpower UPS’s fail on me at critical times, I will never touch a cyberpower UPS again.
Dang I gotta stop getting my cards from garages?
Jerboa was missing the key feature of being able to view communities on other instances in the app by clicking on a link to them.
I guess I’m missing something because I believe I can do this? For instance, I drill down and look at [email protected] or [email protected] all the time in jerboa. What is it you’re trying to do?
Jerboa here, too. Could use a little work, but seems stable, intuitive, and usable for me at this point. Better than the website definitely, which was having major issues when I tried it a few times.
Ok I was prepared to start white-knighting here and tell you to fuck off for making fun of a disabled person but then I thought I’d search this up first and…well, carry on.
