I did 15 years at a small company. There was always a big break just around the corner that never came because of reasons. We got out but damn did I resemble that mouse. Only difference is I avoided FB because I dreaded the thought of my peers doing better. Only now do I realize almost everyone was in a similar trap or stuck in a loop of new jobs. The few I knew that had huge breaks always went into the new job loop eventually.
As a parent of two young kids that’s easy for me. Adaptability, self reflection, and problem solving. Learning to check their sources and learning where to get the good info they need to do whatever. While also teaching the skills to solve for themselves and question themselves while still believing they can find the best solution. You give them this foundation they can sort it out.
My autistic daughter likes to quietly play with my phone when we eat out. If that doesn’t happen everyone in the immediate area suffers. This has always caused me a bad time.
