The first time I went to their website, I left immediately because I got a big pop-up with 404. Tried again, same thing. Third time, I saw it was just a pop-up asking for then-optional registration.
Thankfully, they changed their pop-up design since then.
There are mods on Lemmy? Most of the subs I’ve seen have like one rule and I don’t see any mod activity. Not I believe there isn’t, but it’s my personal experience.
There are no situations except dire emergencies in which a person is not able to return their shopping cart.

Disabilities of all kinds exist. There may be some that use the cart for balance or others that can’t easily navigate places where there are cars (visual disability for example). Leaving the shopping cart at exit is easier if you get into a vehicle or mobility aid right at the exit, rather than going around.
It’s funny because I’ve seen this same post before and half the comments were about disabled people. And here I was the first.

It’s the main reason I stayed on Firefox for so long.
I spent like a year or two using Chrome more because Firefox was having a rough few years and I wasn’t much on my desktop, but that’s it.

That’s the case in many places around the world. From your “We need”, I’m assuming you’re in the USA?
I think it’s okay, I would have voted against it, but they really need to be careful with their website design.
