I honest to god find Linux easier to use. Though it’s maybe because the most used programs on my laptop are neovim, gcc and rust compiler and Firefox . And I shit you not, Microsoft purposefully slowed down the Firefox browser I installed from their store.
Plus I like using a tiling window manager when coding, now in Linux I have 500 options. On windows I get a middle finger and a dedicated nsa/fbi agent. Whats not to hate?
It should be fairly simple to do… But I don’t have multiple monitors to test it. I am taking the day off for today, need to recharge, then I will patch that it.
Well there is a simple answer to it. I didn’t know about it.
The project looks quite cool though.
That’s the beauty of FOSS. You can do whatever the hell you want to your system. Fuck up the kernel if you so wish.
PS, I looked into the wiki and it is really cool, especially since it uses a proper language. I will try it some day but for now… I am totally burntout setting up eww. Maybe on my next rice I will give it a go.
Ohh eww is awesome. And don’t try to create everything from scratch, look up other people’s dot files, you will understand best practices.
If you want to take a peek … Here are my dotfiles
Just create multiple windows with different monitor ids and pass the literal to both. That should do it.
I recently coded up a dirt simple image viewer. Like it is stupidly simple.
You can give it a go https://github.com/Dr-42/imeye
I recommend fedora to every one. It’s the correct kind of stable distro. The kernel updates are slow to roll out after being tested and all… But guess what version of plasma I have? 6.1. That’s just a few weeks later than arch got it.
Plus not to mention how easy setting up my Optimus gpu was because of rpmfusion. I have never had such ease with any other distro.
So I recommend fedora all the way.
I don’t know about others here but I manually hibernate with
systemctl hibernate
And it works pretty well. I set up 16gb swap for my 16gb ram (Which I know is overkill) but it works. I am on Fedora 40
Gotta resoect the tty. Consistently consitent
It’s Geographical isolation and natural selection all the way down.
I have a story that most of here might have faced. I ran dd on my external drive instead of my usb stick to create an iso. 1.8TB of data poof.
I don’t think a human wrote this steaming hot piece of horsedung
Thank you kind sir. I meant the LMMS DAW. Can you recommend me a good DAW to start?
Sorry for hijacking this beautiful conversation you talented gentlemen are having, but can help me out?
I wanted to learn electronic music creation. I learnt very briefly how fl studio works, and then got busy due to my workload. Now I want to give it a go again. I heard llms is good for Linux, but I don’t understand how to get various instrument samples like fl studio. How do I set it all up? Can you point me to any good resources. I am also not committed to lmms and am open to suggestions.
I am looking at these gaggle of posts and all of lemmy is flooded with this and then think that there is an entire Spyware OS on the other side… Which who knows what code it runs and people are chill about it. I am so thankful for this community.
Neoplasia of unknown origin. That sucks dude. They will run some more flow cytometries to find the primary most probably. Stay strong my brother, and remember to eat a lot. That bitch burns a lot of carbs and proteins. Please beat it… For all of us lemmings.
I am a relatively new Linux user, 3 years (almost 2 years dual booted with Windows and now only Linux) and I started using Wayland after approx 2.5 years ago. I used it on my ideapad gaming with 3050etx and Intel igpu and prior to that I used some hp laptop… With gtx 980mx. I used manjaro then arch and then fedora for the last yeae mostly and I haven’t encountered any issues with Wayland whatsoever
I did it. Install v0.1.10 and give it a go.
