It was just easier to get Pixelfed up and running compared to Lemmy. I’m using Yunohost, which has applications for both, but the one for Lemmy isn’t working properly (uploading images is broken, for example). In order to install a fully functional version, I have have to go through this whole process of setting up Docker, which I haven’t figured out yet. The Yunohost application for Pixelfed almost just works. I had to do some klugey stuff, but nothing major. I’ll get Lemmy running eventually, but this was just a small win for me.

I have the Withings and it works well as a digital scale. However, I think it’s body composition measurements/calculations are bogus. It thinks I have a 3.8% bone mass, which would be 6.7 lbs. That’s right it thinks I’m some kind of bird cryptid.

Yes, I believe that is still the case. I found guides to install Docker on a Yunohost/Debian server and another guide to install Lemmy on Docker, so we’ll see if I can figure it out.

My little self-hosting win this weekend was to finally sort out the typical email issues. Yunohost makes it easy to use an SMTP relay.

I am a Yunohost enjoyer. I’m just running AdGuard on it for now, but I’m planning on setting up a personal Lemmy instance as well.

They could still keep iMessage, but just automatically fall back to RCS instead of SMS/MMS. God forbid!

The app integration is fine, although I don’t know what integration with a payment app is supposed to accomplish. I was confused about it when Signal tried to incorporate a payment feature. Rcs group chat encryption is supposed to be there, but I don’t have any groups to test it where everyone is using a compatible messaging app.

I use Jellyfin and Finamp. When it works it’s great, but it seems to always crap out after half an hour or so of streaming.

I tried for years. I’m over it.

It doesn’t even occur to them that they also break features on the Android users’ ends as well, but I only see iPhone users complaining. It really isn’t that big of a deal to share a file over SMS/MMS with a link rather than trying to share the actual file directly. Is that difficult to do on an iPhone?

I might set it up, since I already use Instagram, but I’m not sure how much I’ll use it.

• I wouldn’t be able to post to Threads like I do to Twitter since my family are all on Instagram. They wouldn’t get it.

Are you implying that the RCS that comes with Google Messages is significantly less modern than whatever ships with iPhones?

The point is that it’s not really Android users’ problem. There are options for iPhone users and, yes, if they really want to use the native iPhone messaging app they can complain to Tim Apple. Cc: @[email protected]

I never understood the complaint. If iPhone users don’t like the way Apple messaging works with Android contacts, they can just use an alternative like Whatsapp. Right?
