Nah, there is definitely a truth to this. I grew up in a working class family who moved into a wealthier region at some point and I would never trade places with people who grew up wealthy. Pretty much all wealthy people are constantly unhappy, are obsessed with control to the point where they alienate their families, they are constantly scared of losing their control, status and wealth, constantly paranoid towards everything and everyone and often engage in self-destructive behaviour.

Of course, not having enough money sucks, it generates stress and restricts autonomy. But a similar thing happens at a certain level of wealth.

I mean I get your point, but if you instruct your kids how to use a tool for managing pirated games, they are probably going to see a lot harsher stuff than the word “crack pipe”…

You should be able to go to the community browser (between messages and home) and just search for a community, for example “android”. It will then list communities that fit the search term sorted by number of subscribers.

If you see for example a community just called “android”, it means that the community is on the same instance as you are logged in. If you see something like “[email protected]”, it means it’s on a different server/instance called “lemmy.ml”.

It doesn’t really matter if you join a local community or one on a different server, so I would recommend you join the one with the biggest subscription numbers.

Are you trying to connect via IP or via hostname/DNS? Try IP if you haven’t yet.

Perhaps you have only allowed connections from specific clients or from local IP’s only?

Notice how amnesty international never mentiond the word “genocide”? Instead, they stick to what they can prove without a doubt: Chinas mass internment, mass survilance, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, Chinas actions are horrible. The label genocide is probably fair. But I hate when appologists are able to dodge an uncomfortable discussion because the discussion gets stuck at arguing whether we should call it “crimes against humanity”, “systemic repression of a people” or “genocide”…

Yeah I don’t care if they want to call it genocide or not, I honestly don’t… And I don’t care for calling them fascists either, it’s just childish drama stuff to me… Just don’t twist other people’s words and pretend that a certain country or person is perfect…
