I am surprised there isn’t an automatic mechanism to handle this especially if it is such a frequent issue.

btrfs dynamically allocates inodes.
Are you sure that’s the case with btrfs? I know ext has that feature. My understanding is btrfs just has a global reserve that can be used for any data in an low space situation.
# sudo btrfs fi usage /mnt/disk3

I realize that’s not exactly what you asked for but Pipewire had been incredibly stable for me. Difference between the absolute nightmare of using BT devices with alsa and super smooth experience in pipewire is night and day.
Zero issues for me. Been daily driving it for years. Play Steam games regularly, but have not tried switching to X. Performance on Windows is MUCH better with my 1080ti playing D4, but I’m prefectly content with preformance on Linux and don’t want to keep switching.
And made significantly worse by a) locking you into using a restricted version of the browser made by a shitty company. b) laging noticeably behind that browser in development c) using custom apis for performing tasks already available in any browser like interacting with microphone, camera etc d) breaking perfectly working components that rely on OS apis in regular browsers like screen sharing, video acceleration, etc e) some of the above is partially responsible for Electron being totally broken on certain combinations of OS/WM/hardware where regular browsers work prefectly fine
I can keep going, but my point is all these pointless sacrifices are supposedly there to save dev team a bit of time instead of designing a properly working website and just using a web app or allocating some time to build a functional native app.
Fuck Google and fuck electron. It’s just a pathetic attempt to mine more data from people using pseudo app.
Konsole is fantastic.
After years of using it, there was only once a brief release in which screen sharing actually worked. The only way I can share screen at the moment is by launching slack in any of chrome based browsers. None of the apps work. Not the native one, not the flatpak, not the snap.
I do love how you dismissed my “inconvenience” and then immediately said that one of the two things I listed is a
huge inconvenience of no gpay and have to use their cards
Looks like AA is a fairly recent addition to apps that work on GrapheneOS and GPay will never work.
I wonder if I set up GPay on my watch and then switch to GrapheneOS if it’ll still work?
My previous phone was OnePlus 8 pro and 5t before that. Both still work more reliably than this pixel.
I did hear that Pixel 8 pro is a better phone but I don’t think Tensor will ever be as good as Qualcomm’s offerings.
I’m not one of the people willing to sacrifice convenience for privacy. I really like Android auto and Google pay so imnho Android phone is useless without Google services, but I agree that there are simply no good alternatives at the moment, so I’ll probably get another pixel when I smash this one against the wall from frustration.
Web apps are awesome on desktop especially when common clients like Skype and Slack are absolute fucking shit with zero dev time spent on them because Electron is a lazy alternative despite being shit software that needs to fucking die.
Thankfully --no-remote parameter still sort of works to make Firefox semi usable as a web app.
Pixel is garbage hardware though. I’m on pixel 7 pro now and it is the worst phone I’ve ever had. Shit battery life, shit reception, shit processor that lags constantly, absolute shit Bluetooth chip that randomly disconnects in crucial moments when I’m on important calls or REALLY need android auto. This phone is only good at taking pictures and the fact that I get exclusive spam filtering features. We badly need another alternative.
Also fuck Google.
No, but I thought I clarified that when I said it’s basically wireguard VPN which operates using tcp/udp (layer 3.) layer 7 is stuff like https. CF tunnels are lower level.
Page you linked is missing the layer between CF and source server so it doesn’t indicate layer. You can lookup wireguard protocol if you want more details.
CF tunnels are layer 3, not 7 and they have support for web sockets. It’s basically wireguard VPN with a few extras built on top.

I’m playing D4 at 4K on medium settings. No complaints. This is on a 3yo laptop with 1080ti in an external enclosure hooked up via Thunderbolt.
Just curious what issues you ran into? Asking as a suse daily driver for about 20 years now, but promise not to proselytize.
My problem with appimage is that they never work. Every time I tried one, best case scenario it crashed with a random error message. All attempts to fix them were damn near impossible to debug.
It honestly felt like they were not universal enough and still relied on certain libraries being available on OS. Hopefully I’m wrong because that would completely defeat their purpose. I stopped wasting time on them after Plex and VLC both failed to run reliably and switched to flatpak that “just works” 100% of the time.
To be honest most of the time I look for an rpm anyway. Flatpaks are always a last resort. I’m on OpenSuse Tumbleweed.
The power supplies feeding these are typically .5A at 5v so they can’t draw more than ~2.5w. Is that really enough to generate sufficient heat to start a fire? Maybe if they are wrapped around something incredibly flammable?
Public registration has nothing to do with federation. My instance required admin approval for all new registrations. Illegal content is much more likely to come through federation than from inside.
IMHO, the few reasons to host your own instance largely disappeared with 0.19 and the risks were never worth the rewards to run a tiny instance. Things are likely to continue improving with future releases. Which is why sdf.org became my main.
