and what kernel would you say it and android runs? relevant?

why do we negate chromeos we are 10% at least so there we really are
because Ubuntu has been fantastic for a long time now
in my experience the browser went through a poor engineering phase just as Chrome was getting good, and that continued for quite some time, the mobile browser took a very wayward turn a few years ago
oddly this happened at the same time as Rust and Firefox OS appeared which i think are phenomenal achievements
so Chrome ate Firefox’s lunch and the series of weird CEOs have compounded that by attempting to cover it up with progressive sounding PR
oh i didn’t know Mint supported ZFS and nvidia wayland install etc?
the ubuntu installer has always been the key difference for me specially with zfs and multi-monitor/fractional scaling/nvidia setups that it has configured well over the years where other installers leave you with a lot still to do
a bunch of progressive sounding MBAs smearing google money on their careers
try dual booting with the latest ubuntu and try a few things, customise it a bit. you might be surprised how good things are!
totally agree. the latest ubuntu is great and can be cusomtised as much as you want after installation when you’ve got used to linux
i heard all this shit about linux and nvidia
i installed Ubuntu and EVERYTHING WORKS
this guys says it’s all good
mine is an asus e210ma with a samsung nvme added, it’s great
some things only work properly using Flatpak - Steam/CS:GO and Shotcut video editor, other things don’t work well at all - VSCodium so it depends i guess. i use Arch/Gnome/AMD gpu
thanks to the archinstall tool it’s very easy to install arch the way you want to
it’s much lighter than Manjaro and has been very stable for me
me too. ZFS is amazing
NAS, backups, matrix, home assistant, gitea, etc
Absolutely. In fact i think everyone is hoping steam os will be the distro to make the big push onto desktop because of the gaming and another just works kind of interface
Agreed. Android and chrome os are used happily by 10s of millions without any idea it’s a Linux distro
true, but in this case you can look at the same graph that was linked and see another Linux distro clearly marked that they choose not to treat as one in their headline. seems a little silly to me
