Previously, I coded something in Rust real quick to spit out and manipulate some JSON, but it looks like the jq/yq below would work fine.

We are polar opposites; I almost never want something not in fullscreen, hah. I’ve been using a mac for work for a bit over a year now and hate it.
I’ve been in IT for a couple decades at this point. I stopped doing almost any swlf-hosted stuff years ago as I just don’t have the time or energy to deal with things. There’s a lot to keep up on with technologies, security, etc. not to mention all the constants of keeping things up-to-date, back-ups, troubleshooting issues, and more
I have 7 counting this one on my phone. Work laptop is probably about 12, all of which are used almost every day. Home PC is usually around 10 with basically all used daily
I didn’t know Direct Memory Access was still so controversial! (I feel old now).
notepad++ with textfx edit, textfx tools, and hex editor. I’ve tried a lot of other things and it is still my favorite.
I don’t actually use it for coding, but I often have to futz with files received from customers/QA or test data that I create.
I have mac for work and have been mostly hating BBedit. I keep meaning to try Cate and I guess the folks that made Atom just released something new.
Edit: just remembered: I did try Cate but had really weird UI issues using any dark themes (menus, etc. all became unreadable) and gave up.
Does Gentoo still have a “download the minimum thing and compile everything from the ground up” type of thing? That taught me a TON back in the day. I had used old late-90s Linux distros and could do some basic things, but that really made the difference for me. I always think it might be worth doing for someone with a bit of time on a second machine (or maybe even vm)
Reduce to a sane number. Like less than 20.
