Fascism will exterminate itself. It’s an auto-cannibalistic ideology.

To the Nazi mind, society is like the rings on a tree with the “pure” and “deserving” being at the core. The outer most layer will always be the “other” and the “enemy”. So as each enemy is defeated, the field narrows until the end where they’d be two Nazis left trying to kill each other.

Viewed in this light, anti-Fascist skull crushing is benevolent.

  • Prison labor as a continuation of chattel slavery is seriously flawed. You may be arguing “prisons are worse than you think”, but you’re implying is that “slavery wasn’t all that bad”.

Prisons aren’t profitable, they cost States and the Feds billions. It’s true that private companies profit from prisons, but the vast majority of that profit comes from the prisoners and their families (often coercively) buying products/services.

White prisoners make up ~50% of the populations. Are you really going to argue that the Union’s victory introduced white slavery to the US?

    Prisoners have rights.

    Incarceration isn’t inherited.

The prison system is awful, racist, exploitive, senseless and unjust. But equating it with chattel slavery minimizes the abominable cruelty of that institution and serves white supremacy.

  • It’s not a “debate climate” it’s reality. On January 20, absent an act of God, Joe Biden or Donald Trump is going to be POTUS. You might want to consider why Russian propagandists are pretending to be leftists spreading Democrat FUD on socials before you do their work for free.

  • I was going to say: I’m not aware of debate settling science, but I’ve seen science settle debate. But then I remembered that debate doesn’t need evidence or truth value to thrive and it often isn’t settled by science.

As far as law, I don’t know if you mean debate in a court or debate in a legislature, but I can’t imagine a good faith argument to defend either and I don’t want to strawman you.

In any case, the idea that debate is a method to discover truth value is based on the fallacy that being presented with evidence and reason is how humans form belief. Believing that evidence is persuasive is itself a denial of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

  • Debate is a pointless waste of time.

The competitive form (like debate club) is gish gallop turned up to 11; painful to listen to.

The political form, as in organized debate or “panel” programs is a time-share platform for distributing talking points.

The internet debate is a venue for pendents and logocentrics to play semantics, moderated and scored by partizans.

The good-faith platonic ideal kind of debate doesn’t exist. If people who disagreed could be honest and listen to each other, that’s called conversation. Debate is adversarial like a game, because it is one.

  • In 2022, the defense dept spent 590billion dollars, 2% of that would be 11.8 billion dollars. While it is impossible to calculate the cost of constructing this sphere, it cost 25 billion dollars to develop the Airbus A380, and 150 Billion to complete the International space station.

The US defense budget isn’t an infinite pool of money. It’s 15% of the federal budget. It’s dwarfed by healthcare spending (27%), and Social Security (24%). I’m not a war hawk, I try to bring this up in lefty spaces because skimming off the defense budget to solve social problems is a common, and silly belief.
